What A Difference The Music Makes
Additional Music
Here's fun fun example of music changing the feel of a scene. This is the original clip from Captain America: The Winter Soldier:
There's some music there, but it's not doing that much. Now, give this a shot:
Sure, it's over the top, and doesn't hold up for the entire scene. But, credit where it's due to the kickoff.
Changing the Tune
The bigger example is the score behind the James Bond flick Never Say Never Again.
And then this recut which uses the standard opening theme. (It picks up later in the action and is so-so for a bit, but you get the idea.)
Something this got me thinking about it Star Wars. I posit that without the John Williams score, it would have been just another sci-fi/fantasy flick.
Sure, my love of music adds some bias, and I'm overstating it a little.
But, not a lot.
