The list type is designed to allow multiple blocks inside each item. Here's a [TODO: Code shorthand span ] section using the list content type.

Checklist items start with either [TODO: Code shorthand span ] the indicates an unchecked item, or a set of braces with something inside them that represents a checked item. I'm using [TODO: Code shorthand span ] here, but anything could be used and multiple strings could be passed to the rendering engine to make decisions on (e.g. for in progress stuff).
