Restyling Footnotes

From This To That

I haven't been jazzed about the way my footnotes, well, ever since I made them. I did just enough work to get them showing up before moving on to other stuff.

They looked like this:

A view of the prior version of footnotes on my site. There are numbers in their own thin column on the left with the text of the footnote text taking up the majority of the space to the right.

Not awful. I like this change putting the number on top better.

Words, Words, Words

I've been experimenting with using words instead of numbers for the footnote. It doesn't looks as good in the page, but it's easier to work with than the number when working on the files.

The footnotes part looks really nice though

That'll be just fine for now.

Endnotes

Using words for the ids is the first step to automating them a little more. The idea is to be able to use words in the source files but have the output convert them to numbers. That way you won't have to do any renumbering if you add one in the middle.
