Weeknotes - Through Sept. 12, 2025
- Saw weeknotes on squirrels.wtf and remembered I hadn't done them in a while.
- Getting my brain going again. Kinda out of it for a couple months.
- I've been giving a lot of though to setting up a server on the internet I can use for APIs and general page serving. Same with the idea of making a local server that's part Content Management System, part Automator for doing whatever. I expect I'll get into that next week.
- Dipped my toe back into social media after being away from it. That led to this post: The Low Energy Loop.
- Finished bitty v0.3.0 which I think will end up being v1.0. It's a single file web component that provides reactivity via signals and vanilla JavaScript functions. I'm very pleased with it. I expect to spend a fair amount of next week polishing the docs and making an Intro to bitty video.
-
Recorded a Live Coding video showing testing out bitty.
- Finally started using my youtube-player web component here for videos. It's what adds the controls below the video and does a better thumbnail without the play button covering the center.
- Add a Month, Year date to my site pages again. I though I did that a while ago, but nope. It's there now.
- Added a second squad that I'm doing another Baldur's Gate III run with.
-
Made a new version of my personal Simple Site Builder. I've refined things down so there's a single content directory. It was a lot of fun to do since I have way more understand about how things work now in terms of the Rust code.
I've got markdown processing in it. Will add Neopolitan parsing when I've finish splitting out that parser from Neopoligen.
- Finally published Enshittifying Search with AI. Cory Doctorow boosted it on Mastodon which is always a cool thing to see.
-
darth on bluesky made a post asking about stuff folks had done and were proud of. I responded with Multi-player which they reposted. Another little hit of social acknowledgement. Always fun.
(I don't remember if I posted before, but Kottke also link to Multi-player a while ago. Having been a fan of that site for a decade or two that was really fun)
Not a bad week. I'm playing around with another QR code riff after the QR Clock. This time, the idea is going to be a typewriter that does QR Codes.
That'll probably make an apperance next week.
Until then, stay safe and have fun.
