Weeknotes for the Week Ending Dec. 12, 2025
-
This weeks was mostly working on bittybitty
I published version 7.0.0. It's the first version that's crossed the threshold into completeness. There's more plans and ideas but the tool is ready to use for production work.
- I've started adding projects to the bitty site. The first ones are thing I'm actually using to power the site like the Code Block Controlscbc.
-
Had the once-every-two weeks call with my Content Chat group. It's where a few folks who make content get together to discuss what we've been working on. It's a great way get feedback and bounce ideas around.
The thing that became super clear to me is that it's time to work on marketing for bitty. First step is starting with letting folks know who it's for.
Right now, the home page is mainly a few examples of what you can do and a couple code snippets showing how to do it. That doesn't show or tell why you'd want to use it. (I was going for more show than tell, but my version of the approach isn't working)

I've decided to call the scripts that bitty uses "bits". So, you make a "bit" or a "bit script" that provides your functionality.
It feels a little weird to define that. A bit like assigning a nickname, but they need a name so...

My internet has been shit over the past few weeks. My upload speed was dropping from hundreds of MB to 1. That makes stream hard since it pretty much kills the stream.
I replace the cable modem, changed all the wires, took my router out of the mix, used wifi instead of wires, and tried two computers and nothing fixed it.
I went to the companies website and was impressed by their chatbot. I typed in that I was having problems and the first message back was a confirmation that their systems were seeing an issue and offering to schedule a tech call with a link to set it up.
It was the best interaction I've ever had with customer service.
I ended up canceling the appointment, though. My house is kinda a wreck and I don't have the spoons to get it in good enough shape that I'd want someone seeing it.
Also, the issue hasn't been happening. I almost wish it was because that would necessitate getting the service call which would in tern get me to deep clean the house.

The upcoming week will be bitty work, but working with it instead of on it. I'm really looking forward to that.
Building the tool has been fun. Playing with it will be more so.
All in all. A pretty solid week.

The little tool that makes static site pages dynamic.
My bit for adding copy buttons (and a wrap toggle and font size adjustments) to code blocks.
