Hiding how the trick was done isn't protecting movie magic. Your curiosity to see how your favorite thing was made, that is the magic. And we can keep it alive so long as there's people willing to give that knowledge away, for free.

The first 14 minutes of this video are a great run down of the forced perspective used in the Lord of the Rings movies (the presenters do a little bit of that over-the-top youtuber thing, but it's not too bad). The rest of the video is how they recreated it. Not as interesting as the first part for me, but that's where the quote came from.
