Running Weeknotes
Just had a little epiphany about Weeknotes. You can make them a daily running list during the week. Then, you can just leave them like that.
The Old Way
Trying to write an entire weeknotes post at the end of the week doesn't work for me. It's tough to think back through the week. I'm not interested in even trying.
My approach had been to open a note at the start of the week and write in it whenever I remembered.
The friction I'd hit was trying to write from the perspective of the end of the week. Or, I put in a note on a day and then go back and edit things later to change the perspective. For example, I'd combine multiple entries if I had several on the same project throughout the week.
Weekly Day-by-Day
Today's Wednesday. I just start this week's entry with a note about getting my NAS up and running. I'll be working on it tomorrow and have more info. I started to hedge in the note. Talking about plans for the rest of the week while also thinking about how I was gonna have to go back and edit at the end of week.
Then, it clicked. I could just put a heading for the day above the notes. No need to do later edit. The content is associated with a day. Doing work on the same project on a latter day will be clear.
This is a new though technology, but I expect it'll make me way more likely to make entries.
