General Guidelines for a Good Life
- Automate your investments (if you don't do anything else here, do this).
- Aim to be in control of your time
- Reduce Friction

Think about 20 years from now.
Not what you want to do in 20 years, but that something will be like if you put 20 years of practice into it.
- If you aren't already investing. Start now. If you are, increase the amount
- Everything is a prototype for what comes after it.
- Practicing is a superpower.
- We can't control our first thoughts. We can controls the ones that come after.
- Adjusting the language we use to think about things is a superpower.
- Listen three times (you don't like what you don't know).
- Computers are magical but they aren't magic.
- Helping, Hearing, and Hugging
- Change orders of magnitude of money has more effect expected
- There's a difference between the first time and all the times after
- Your manager might care about you. Your company does not.
- Talk about what you've done, not what you're going to do.
- Practice Patients.
- Just because something's easy for you doesn't mean it is for everybody.
- Interesting problems and sharp tools
- 10 hours to cut, 8 to sharpen the saws
- Broken gets fixed. Shoddy is forever.
- Simple things should be easy. Hard things should be possible.
- Folks tend to over-estimate what they can do in one year and under-estimate what they can do in five.
